Pawnee — Alice Faye Eldredge Springer, 78, of Pawnee, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield. She was born Jan. 12, 1946, in Collinsville, Illinois, the daughter of Homer and Eva M. McDaniel Tedford Sr. She married Bill Eldredge on Aug. 15, 1969. He died in 2002. In 2010, she married Don Springer, and he died in 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Loretta L. "Pooh" Eldredge in 2008.

Alice was a member of the New City Community Church and Lakeside Christian Church in Springfield, and she taught Sunday School at Pawnee Assembly of God Church in Pawnee. She loved to spend time reading the Bible and taking care of her family and friends.

Alice retired from the Illinois Secretary of State's office of administrative accounting after more than 36 years of service, and she also worked at the 104 Store in Pawnee for many years. She enjoyed serving others in the community through her church activities and as a former member of the Pawnee Lioness Club. Alice loved to go camping, visit with her great-granddaughter and listen to Elvis.

She is survived by her daughter, Jackie S. (husband, Eric) Hughes, of Springfield; one granddaughter, Lillian (companion, Ryan) Barnes, of Pawnee; and her great-granddaughter, Hazel Lynn.

Alice's family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee, with Pastoral Care Minister Jay Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
