Pawnee — Alvora Louise Sandidge, 94, of Pawnee, Illinois, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2022, at Lincoln Village Healthcare Center in Lincoln. Alvora was born Nov. 6, 1927, in Springfield, the daughter of Albert L. and Opal E. Miller Tuxhorn. She married William C. "Bill" Sandidge on June 23, 1946, at Pawnee United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, in 2020; her son, Theodore, in 1968; her infant daughter; one brother, Leo Tuxhorn; and one sister, Rose Marie Bannister.

Alvora graduated from Pawnee High School in 1944. She was an active, longtime member of the Pawnee United Methodist Church. She delivered meals in Pawnee for many years, and she was well-known for making wonderful, delicious cakes and desserts. Alvora and Bill's family was designated a Gold Star family after their son Theodore's death during the Vietnam War.

Alvora is survived by one daughter, Danna D. Abner, of Springfield; one grandson, Aaron C. (wife, Kendra) Abner, of Mount Zion; one brother-in-law, Gary A. (wife, Carolyn) Sandidge, of Pawnee; and one niece, Cinthia Hogan, of Colorado.

Alvora's family will meet friends from 1 p.m. until the funeral service at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022, at Pawnee United Methodist Church in Pawnee, with Rev. Bobby Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
