Anthony (Tony) Joseph Gilbert, 51, of Pawnee, Ill., died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at his home in Pawnee. He was born July 4, 1960, in Fort Bragg, Calif., the son of Francis Marion Gilbert Sr. and Shirley Irene Bowen Gilbert. Tony was preceded in death by his grandparents and a son-in-law Erin Turner-Schaefer in 2005. Tony is survived by his mother, Shirley Gilbert, of Pawnee; his father, Marion Gilbert Sr. (companion, Ann Conner), of Chesterfield, Ill.; a son, Joseph I. Gilbert (fianc̩, Laura Farnham), of Dumfries, Va.; three daughters, Teressa I. Gilbert, of Woodbridge, Va., and Anntoinett E. and Natasha N. Gilbert, both of Springfield; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Francis M. (wife, Therese) Gilbert Jr., of Branson, Mo., and Alexander S. (wife, April) Gilbert, of Branson, Mo.; three sisters, Mary J. (husband, Mark) Bressan, of Sherman, Ill., and Veronica L. Davis and Charlotte I. (husband, William) Stufflebeam, both of Pawnee; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his dog, Tank. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, at the Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A graveside service will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Pawnee, with the Rev. Aaron Griffith officiating. Contributions may be made to the Pawnee Christian Church, 1200 Rutledge, Pawnee, IL 62558, to assist with funeral expenses.
