Obituary

Sherman — Benjamin Lewis Bushnell, 90, of Sherman, Illinois, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at his home. Ben was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Springfield, the son of Benjamin S. and Edna B. Heddin Bushnell. He married Agnes Marie Marr on Aug. 11, 1953, at Laurel United Methodist Church in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Agnes, in 2012; a son Michael L. Bushnell; a granddaughter, Michelle Fields; one brother, Bob Bushnell; and one sister, Eileen Lloyd. Ben graduated from Springfield High School and served in the U.S. Army National Guard, obtaining the rank of sergeant. He was a resident of Sherman since 1960. Together with his wife, Ben co-owned and operated Royal Office Equipment in Springfield for 40 years. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #437. Ben is survived by his son, Gregory A. (wife, Kathy) Bushnell, of Sherman; one grandson, Joshua M. (wife, Magda) Bushnell, of Boulder Creek, California; four great-grandchildren, Myah and Jayda Fields and Alva and Elska Bushnell; his companion, Mildred "Millie" McHenry, of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
