Pawnee — Carolyn Louise Sandidge, 87, of Pawnee, Illinois, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023, at her home. She was born July 31, 1935, in Springfield, the daughter of Fredrick B. and Hazel Miller Zimmerman. Carolyn married Gary Sandidge on March 1, 1957, at Grace Lutheran Church in Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorothy Zimmerman and Doris M. Groat; and one brother, Fred B. Zimmerman.

Carolyn was a member of Pawnee United Methodist Church in Pawnee and a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Springfield. She grew up in Loami and attended school there. She also attended New Berlin High School. Carolyn worked at the International Shoe Factory and the Illinois State Library for 32 years, retiring in 1991. She enjoyed boating, snow and water skiing, snowmobiling, country dancing, going on motorcycle rides and visiting gambling boats.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 66 years, Gary Sandidge, of Pawnee; her extended family, Barbara Sallenger of Glenarm, Bill, Cathy, Kayla and Billy Sallenger of Chatham, Angie and Mitch Bye and Brooklyn and Mitchell Heer, all of Acworth, Georgia; several nieces and nephews; and her loyal and loving pet, Pixie.

Carolyn's family will meet friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at Pawnee United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bobby Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
