Catherine G. "Katie" Zoeckler, 88, of Pawnee, Ill., passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill. Katie was born Nov. 27, 1925, in Tamaroa, Ill., the daughter of Marion E. and Nellie Gilliam Prior. She married Orval W. Zoeckler on Sept. 19, 1964, in Tamaroa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orval, in 1992; and three brothers, Clarence (Perk), Allen (Hap) and Gene. Katie attended the Pawnee Assembly of God Church and Sesser High School in Sesser, Ill. She loved to do crafts and crochet. Katie enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they were the most important thing to her. Katie is survived by her daughter, Karen (husband, Gary) Riddell, of Chatham; three grandchildren, Michael Reavis, of Kansas, Larry (wife, Melissa) Reavis, of Springfield and Susan (husband, Chris) Heaton, of Chatham; six great-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Katie's family will meet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at the Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, Aug. 29, at the Nine Mile Baptist Church, 6684 Illinois Route 154 in Tamaroa, Ill. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Du Quoin, Ill. Memorial contributions honoring Katie may be made to the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Road, Springfield, IL 62702 or to Lewis Memorial Christian Village's Activity Department, 3400 W.
