Christopher Jay Jocis of Pawnee died Saturday, May 7, 2016, at his residence in Pawnee. Chris was born April 29, 1959, in Springfield, the son of Stanley M. and Francene Ley Jocis. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Megen Jocis, in 2009.
Chris was a veteran of the U.S. Army, joining the military just out of high school. He was an electrician by trade. He attended Redford High School in Detroit, Michigan, and was a 1977 graduate of Springfield Southeast High School in Springfield. Chris loved to assemble and fly remote-controlled airplanes and enjoyed fishing. Chris loved to visit with people, share stories and listen to music. He had a gift of getting along with people he met; Chris will be missed by his family and friends.
Chris is survived by one brother, Steven M. Jocis, of Pawnee, and one sister, JoAnn E. Jocis, of Huntington Beach, California; two grandchildren, Madeline Stroup and Hudson Welker; one niece, Jessica Jocis, and a great-niece, Abigail Jocis, both of Divernon.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, May 16, 2016, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield with military honors conducted by the Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County.
