Springfield — Danny "Dan" Lee Chevalier, 78, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, at his home in Springfield surrounded by his loving family. He was born Aug. 13, 1945, in Springfield, the son of Rene and Julianne Kohlrus Chevalier. He married Mary Anne Saal on Aug. 13, 1977, in Peoria. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Randy Chevalier; two nephews, Brendon and Jeromy Chevalier; and a great-niece, Sailor Packard.

Dan graduated from Lanphier High School in 1963. He worked at Cilco (now Ameren) for 28 years and retired in 1997 as a supervisor. He was a member of the Church of the Little Flower, Springfield Dominican Associates, Lincoln Land Woodturners, Capital Area Woodworkers Guild and the Springfield Art Association. He also was a past president of the Salvation Army of Springfield.

Dan loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He and his wife, Mary Anne, also loved to travel and take cruises to various destinations around the world.

Dan is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Anne Chevalier, of Springfield; two sons, Michael B. (wife, Melissa) Chevalier of Carmel, Indiana, and Brian R. (wife, Lyndsay) Chevalier of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, Emma, Vivienne and Carter; three brothers, Terry (wife, Bonnie) Chevalier of Divernon, Ricky (wife, Diane) Chevalier of Langleyville and Rodney (wife, Lisa) Chevalier of Carlinville; one sister, Renee (wife, Sheryl Dyer) Chevalier, of Springfield; a sister-in-law, Jane Chevalier of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dan's family will meet friends from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral Mass at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023, at the Church of the Little Flower in Springfield, with Rev. Allen Kemme officiating. A private family burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield.
