David J. Barlow, 79, of Pawnee, Illinois, died Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. David was born Dec. 5, 1941, in Madison, Wisconsin, the son of Frank J. and Eleanor M. Stewart Barlow. David married Susan Lynn Putnam Jan. 31, 1975, in Orlando, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Susan, in 2012; a brother Richard A. Barlow; and a sister Patricia E. Schenck.
David was a member of the Pawnee United Methodist Church and a former member of the Pawnee Lion's Club, the Corvette Club of Springfield and the U.S. Trotting Association. He was a graduate of West Madison High School. He was self-employed in real estate and loved to build houses and complete carpentry projects. He also was a Chicago Cubs fan.
David is survived by two sons, Jason J. (wife, Vlada) Barlow of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Bert J. (wife, Sarah) Barlow of Pawnee; one granddaughter, Carrie Barlow, of Pawnee; one brother, John (wife, Lynn) Barlow, of Deerfield, Wisconsin; three sisters, Carol E. Mears of Bonifay, Florida, Joyce A. Meier of Ripon, Wisconsin, and Marilyn Manglos of Tucson, Arizona; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021, at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee with Rev. Chuck Kurfman officiating.
