Delores Marie Kurwicki, 79, of Springfield, Ill., passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Delores was born March 24, 1935, in Marinette, Wisc., the daughter of Tony and Ann Blachowiak Fendrick. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ted Kurwicki, in 1999; her infant daughter, Catherine Straube; a brother, Florian Fendrick and granddaughter Emily Strow. Delores retired as a payroll accountant at Scott Air Force Base near Belleville, Ill. She was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and enjoyed playing wii bowling, BINGO and pinochle. She is survived by her son, Gerald "Jerry" (wife, Joanne) Straube Jr. of Memphis, Neb.; five daughters, Marcia Strow of Springfield, Lisa (husband, Tony) Stolte of Springfield, Laura (husband, Michael Sr.) Glenn of Fults, Ill., Dee Marie (husband, James) Smith of Springfield and Teddie (husband, Frank) Hall of Paducah, Ky.; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Delores's family will meet friends from 5 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, 2015, at the Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee, Ill. A prayer service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Graveside services will be on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery in Posen, Ill. Memorial contributions honoring Delores may be made to St. John's Hospital's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 800 E. Carpenter St., Springfield, IL 62769.
