Springfield — Delories Marie Smith, 83, of Springfield, Illinois, died Sunday, April 15, 2018, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Delories was born Sept. 1, 1934, in Shobonier, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph E. and Helen M. Brown Ward. She married Paul J. Smith Dec. 5, 1959, in Springfield; they later divorced. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Michael Paul and James Russell Smith; and two brothers, Charles E. and John L. Ward.
Delories retired as a cook from The Franklin Life Insurance Co. in 1999 after 25 years of service.
Delories is survived by two sons, Jerry L. Smith of Loami and Kevin S. (wife, Jocelyn) Stailey of Acworth, Georgia; two daughters, Robin R. Davis of Glenarm and Michelle A. Birch of Fort Myers, Florida; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenneth J. Ward and Robert J. Ward, both of Springfield, and Richard W. (Onna) Ward of Santa Rosa, California; two sisters, Etta Mae Kronck of Spaulding and N. Joann Mitchell of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018, at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
