Pawnee — Diane L. Nichols, 67, of Pawnee, Illinois, died Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018, at her home. She was born April 21, 1951, in Springfield, the daughter of Louis and Nina L. Dees Bernardini. She married James Nichols Jr. Sept. 20, 1969, in Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim, in 2005; and two sisters.
Diane was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Auburn and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She graduated from Kincaid High School and operated a home cleaning service.
Diane is survived by two daughters, Lanina M. (husband, Michael) Clark and Sarah A. (husband, Jim) Taylor, both of Pawnee; three grandchildren, Austin Taylor, Haley Schnapp and Skylar Taylor; two sisters, Clara (husband, Ronald) Cary of Edinburg and Jeanie Mantz of Iowa; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Auburn with Rev. James Palakudy officiating. Burial will be held at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
