Donald Adrian Hamilton, 91, of Pawnee, Ill., passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at his residence. Don was born Jan. 6, 1921, in Los Angeles, Calif., the son of Wathen and Mae W. Weber Hamilton. He married the love of his life, Evelyn Lenore King, on Dec. 31, 1941, in Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn; a brother, Weber; and a sister, Jane Hamilton Perini. Don was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II in the South Pacific. He farmed in the Pawnee area for 40 years, and he was an avid pilot who reconditioned and sold several small aircraft. Don is survived by two sons, Donald W. (wife, Jennifer) Hamilton, of Carlinville, Ill., and Gary H. (wife, Jill) Hamilton, of Pawnee; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Don's family will meet friends on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for a Celebration of Life gathering at the Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A private burial will be held at Horse Creek Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions honoring Don's memory may be made to the Pawnee Food Pantry or the Carlinville Food Pantry. Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee is serving the family of Don Hamilton.
