Springfield — Donna Marie Hall, 73, of Springfield, Illinois, died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022, at her home in Springfield surrounded by her family. Donna was born July 23, 1949, in Springfield, the daughter of Leonard J. and Helen R. Tinsley Goldesberry. She met her best friend, Robert Michael Hall, in 1957, and they later married Sept. 30, 1967, at the Church of the Little Flower. Donna was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jack Goldesberry and Leonard Goldesberry Jr.; and a sister, Linda Rhodes.

Donna was a member of the Church of the Little Flower and graduated from Feitshans High School in 1967 as a member of the school's last graduating class. She retired in 2016 as a human resource officer at the SIU School of Medicine in Springfield after more than 20 years of service.

Donna was a member of the Sangamo Surf Club, and she earned her black belt in karate from the Shudo-Kan Club. She also enjoyed photography, and several of her pictures were published in a calendar. Donna loved her family and her pets, including her dog, Grizzly, cat, Yoda, and granddog, Carson. She was a force to be reckoned with throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Mike, of Springfield; one son, Mike (Cindy) Hall Jr., of Macomb; one daughter, Leslie (Mike) Thornton, of Springfield; two granddaughters, Kacee Marie Hall and Allie Reeves; and several nieces and nephews.

Donna's family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, at the Church of the Little Flower at 800 Stevenson Drive in Springfield, with Rev. Al Kemme officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield.
