Obituary

Pawnee — Emerson Lee Roderick, 73, of Pawnee, Illinois, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2018, at his home. He was born Aug. 21, 1945, in Decatur, the son of Roy and Josephine Wernsing Roderick. He married Sheila Marie Kauzlarich Aug. 20, 1966, in Decatur. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, David. Emerson graduated from Mount Zion High School in 1963 and Lincoln Land Community College, where he earned an associate degree. He worked for the Illinois Department of Central Management Services as a regional manager for vehicle services, retiring in 1998 after 36 years of service. He also owned Lou's Cycle Inc. in Auburn. He served on the village of Pawnee board for several years. He loved cars and motorcycles and was a member of the Vintage Iron Riders. Emerson is survived by his wife, Sheila, of Pawnee; one son, Brian D. Roderick, of Pawnee; one grandson, Jacob T. Roderick; one nephew, Brett; and two nieces, Stacy and Susan. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until a memorial service at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2018, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee with Rev. Chuck Kurfman officiating. Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pawnee Food Pantry, P.O. Box 304, Pawnee, IL 62558.
