Emma Louise Nerone, 86, of Pawnee, Ill., passed away on Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Auburn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Auburn, Ill. Emma was born Aug. 18, 1926, in Waverly, Ill., the daughter of Everett M. and Anna Berndt Miner. She was preceded in death by parents; seven brothers, Robert, Elmer, Melvin, Enneth, Clarence, Gilbert and Ernest Miner; two grandsons, John Patrick Collins and R. Gabriel Nerone. Emma was a member of the Pawnee United Methodist Church where she taught Vacation Bible School (VBS) and led the VBS arts and crafts program. She was a Cub Scout den mother. She also was a member of the Pawnee Order of the Eastern Star 436, and she was involved with the University of Illinois Home Extension service. Emma managed the Hucks Convenience Store in Pawnee and worked as a florist at several local flower shops. She enjoyed attending performances at the Springfield Muni. Emma is survived by three sons, W. Craig (wife, Birdie) Nerone, of Laramie, Wyo., J. Alan (wife, Lisa) Nerone, of Williamsville, and Gary W. (wife, Amanda) Nerone, of Auburn; one daughter, Karen L. (husband, Johnny) Collins, of Haw River, N. C.; a brother, Wayne R. Miner and a sister, Eva Perry, both of Waverly, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Mary Beth Collins and Hannah, Natalie, Daniel, Zachery, Aidan, Frederick and Helen Nerone; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Emma's family will meet friends Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. An additional visitation will be on Thursday, Nov. 29, from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. at the Pawnee United Methodist Church with the Rev. Flo Scott officiating.
