PAWNEE — Evelyn Jean Scott, 88, of Pawnee, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at Arcadia Care in Auburn. She was born July 24, 1933, in Pawnee, the daughter of Alvin B. and Myrtle I. Allen Castle. Evelyn married Ronald K. Scott on July 28, 1951, in Pawnee. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ron, in 2019; a granddaughter, Brooke Scott; great-grandsons Brandon King and Travis Thiel; and a sister, Shirley Harlan.
Evelyn worked for G.E. Telephone in Pawnee as an operator, and was an editor of the Pawnee Herald, now the Pawnee Post. She was a 1951 graduate of Pawnee High School. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching figure skating and listening to Conway Twitty. She was a great mother and grandmother and loved all her grandkids.
Evelyn is survived by one daughter, Debbie (husband, John) Gleason, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; two sons, Tom (wife, Colleen) Scott and Bruce Scott, both of Pawnee; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Clay and Sherry (husband, Terry) Ward, also of Pawnee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Burial will be at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
