Gary Lynn Sandidge, 67, of Springfield, Illinois, formerly of Pawnee, died Friday, April 8, 2016, at Memorial Medical Center. Gary was born April 19, 1948, in Springfield, the son of Hal "Stu" and Norma E. Sproat Sandidge. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Nancy L. Sandidge and nephew Bobby J. Sandidge. Gary was a graduate of Pawnee High School. He was a U.S. Navy Seabee serving in Vietnam. Gary was an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and a member of the Patriot Guard. He loved new cars, trucks and motorcycles, and he enjoyed fishing. He is survived by his daughters, Brandy A. Sandidge of Glenarm and Amye Lynn Sandidge of Alabama; three step-children; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; one brother, Bobbie L. Sandidge, of Springfield; one half-brother, Michael E. Sandidge, of Pawnee; one half-sister, Luanne (husband, Matthew) Adams, of Pawnee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Gary's family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. The Rev. Aaron Griffith will officiate. Burial will be at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee with the Inter-Veterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County providing military honors.
