Harry R. (Rich) Simpson, 86, of Pawnee, Ill., died Monday, March 10, 2013, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill. He was born Jan. 6, 1927, in White Oak, the son of Harry R. and Jennie S. Bryant Simpson. He married Margaret Lorene Wright on May 8, 1948, is Springfield. Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorene in 1990; a brother Bob Simpson and his sister, Linda Busch. Harry was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked for Sangamo Construction retiring in 1989. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local #965. Harry was also a member of the Pawnee Pioneer Camping Club. He enjoyed camping and fishing Harry is survived by his two sons, Ed (wife, Marge) Simpson and Mike (companion, Shelley Streder) Simpson, both of Pawnee; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, Tom (wife, Mona) Simpson, of Pawnee; a sister, Pat Neuman, of Chatham; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and his companion, Joan Murphy, of New City. Harry's family will meet friends on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. The funeral service will be held at Thursday, March 14, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Curry Funeral Home with Rev. Lamoin Lytle officiating. Contributions honoring Harry's life may be made to the Pawnee Food Pantry, P.O. Box 304, Pawnee, IL 62558. Burial will be at Horse Creek Cemetery.
