Pawnee — Jack Eugene "Squeak" Alspaugh, 84, of Pawnee, Illinois, died Saturday, June 29, 2024, at his home in Pawnee. Jack was born Sept. 27, 1939, in Springfield, the son of Richard W. and Regina M. Catizon Alspaugh. He married Carolyn A. Bowen on July 26, 1969, at Pawnee United Methodist Church in Pawnee. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jack graduated from Pawnee High School in 1960, and he was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked for Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co. as a warehouseman for 30 years.
Jack was a member of Pawnee United Methodist Church, the Methodist Men's Club and the Pawnee Fire Department for 20 years. He also was a member of a ham radio club and was an avid ham radio operator. He loved speaking to people around the world. Additionally, Jack was a longtime collector of coins and arrowheads.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Carolyn Alspaugh, of Pawnee; one daughter, Angela Ramsey, of Pawnee; one granddaughter, Riley Ramsey, of Virden; three sisters, Doris G. Sergeant of Franklin, Wisconsin, Mary Deanna Dillon of Jacksonville and Sharon E. (husband, Gary) Leskovisek of Pawnee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jack's family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Pawnee United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bobby Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee. To honor Jack's memory and request, attendees are asked to dress casually for his services.
