Summertown, TN — Jack Sampson Day Sr., 81, of Summertown, Tennessee, formerly of Kincaid, Illinois, died Saturday, March 27, 2021, in Summertown. Jack was born May 22, 1939, in Jellico, Kentucky, the son of Kernie and Iva Huddleston Day. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter Penny Kay Day; two great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Bobby Day, Mahala Day Hall, Kathleen Day Siler, Imogene Day Dowdell, Mildred Day White and Danny Day.
Jack graduated from Kincaid High School in 1955. He retired from the Business Enterprise Program for the Blind in Bloomington and was a member of the Bloomington Elks Lodge #281.
Jack was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He spent his final years in Summertown. Some of our fondest memories were of him sitting at the kitchen table, strumming his Gibson guitar and singing his favorite classic country music.
Jack is survived by his children, Jack S. (Kelley) Day Jr. of Spring Hill, Florida, Marsha (Jerry) Day Hobgood of Summertown, Julie (Kevin) Day Twiford of Manteo, North Carolina, Ronda (Fred) Day Ostermeier of Hardinsburg, Indiana, and Douglas (Terry) Day of Bremerton, Washington; one sister, Lucille (Cornelius) Day Sullivan, of Rochester; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021, at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee, with a celebration of life to follow.
