Springfield — James Patrick "JP" Cunningham, 64, of Springfield, Illinois, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at his home. JP was born Nov. 30, 1953, in Springfield, the son of Dr. James T. and Winifred P. Cunningham. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Linda, in 2010.
JP worked for the Illinois Secretary of State for 35 years, retiring in 2012. He attended Griffin High School and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1971. JP didn't know a stranger ― everybody was his friend. He loved listening to music, working on crossword puzzles and spending time with family and friends.
JP is survived by one sister, Kathy Cunningham, of Springfield; one brother, Terry (wife, Mary Ann) Cunningham, of Ellisville, Missouri; two nieces; one nephew; and one great-nephew.
A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of a memorial Mass at noon Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at the Church of the Little Flower in Springfield with the Rev. Allen Kemme officiating.
