Pawnee — Beverly JoAnn Bowsher, 86, of Pawnee, Illinois, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022, at her home in Pawnee surrounded by her family. JoAnn was born Nov. 10, 1936, in Taylorville, the daughter of James G. and Reba F. Smith Best. She married William H. Bowsher Sept. 18, 1955, at the Pawnee Assembly of God Church. JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, in 2011; and a brother, Jerry Best.
JoAnn graduated from Tovey High School in 1955. She was a member of the Pawnee Assembly of God Church where she taught Sunday School and helped in the nursery for many years. She also volunteered with the Pawnee Fire Department, serving as an EMT. JoAnn and her husband owned and operated Bowsher Quality Furniture in Pawnee for 10 years.
JoAnn is survived by one son, Jim (Martha) Bowsher, of Camdenton, Missouri; three daughters, Julie (Dave) Szabo of Pawnee, JoLynn (Rob) Anderson of Springfield, and Jan Bowsher (Monica) of Pawnee; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry (Becky) Best, of Springfield; one sister, Marilyn (Stan) Sheldon, of Sharpsburg; one sister-in-law, Jean Best; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
At JoAnn's request, a private family graveside service will be held Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee, with her son, Jim Bowsher, officiating.
