Obituary

JoAnn Hanlon, 84, of Pawnee, Ill., died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at St. John's Hospital. JoAnn was born Feb. 24, 1930, in Chicago the daughter of Joseph and Anna Yureskis Barnwell. She married John Hanlon Jr. Nov. 27, 1949, in Divernon. She was preceded in death by her parents. JoAnn worked for the State of Illinois Department of Natural Resources; she retired in 1996. She was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church in Kincaid and a former member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pawnee. She lived for her grandchildren and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed being on Facebook and emailing family and friends. She was always on the go. She is survived by her husband, John of Pawnee; son, John W. (companion, Sara) Hanlon of Springfield; daughter, Jayne (Bart) Wilson of Pawnee; brothers, Mike (Grace) Barnwell of Florida and Jack (Darlene) Barnwell of Farmersville; sister, Louise Armstead of Springfield; grandchildren, Jonathan Hanlon and Lexia Wilson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Private family services will be held. Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee is serving the family of JoAnn Hanlon.
