Pawnee – Jonita "Jo" Lynne McElroy, 55, of Pawnee, Illinois, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019, at her home in Pawnee. Jonita was born May 18, 1963, in Cairo, the daughter of Joseph H. and Beverly S. Snow Kelley. She was preceded in death by her parents. Jonita graduated from Pawnee High School's class of 1981. She loved music, enjoyed football and watching music videos, but mostly, she enjoyed having her grandkids around. Jonita is survived by four sons, Joshua D. (wife, Jami) McElroy, Justin L. (wife, Dani) McElroy and Tyler W. McElroy, all of Pawnee and T.J. (wife, Mindy) McElroy of Virden; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Tylee, Talan, Joselyn, Riley, Trinity and baby Lyric, who is on the way; two brothers, Rev. Scott C. (wife, Connie) Kelley of Olmsted and Jackie B. (wife, Dionne) Kelley of Rolla, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jonita's family will meet friends from 1 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee with her brother Rev. Scott Kelley officiating. Private burial will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the family to help offset final expenses. Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee is serving the family of Jo McElroy.
