Springfield — Joyce Marie Smith, 65, of Springfield, Illinois, passed away Friday, March 31, 2023, at her home in Springfield. Joyce was born Feb. 3, 1958, in Springfield, the daughter of Edward S. and Helen F. Brown Smith Sr. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roger Brown.

Joyce attended Lanphier High School in Springfield.

She is survived by one son, Jeremy B. Smith, of Springfield; one daughter, Misty D. (husband, David) Duncan, of Springfield; two grandchildren, Destiny Hudspeth and Kyle Eguez; one brother, Edward S. (wife, Michele) Smith Jr., of Rochester; one niece, Cassidy (husband, Joe) Smith; and one nephew, Justin (wife, Karren) Smith.

Joyce's family will meet friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind and Visually Impaired at 2960 Stanton St. in Springfield, with Pastor Calvin Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Springfield.
