Pawnee — Joyce Colleen Wood, 75, of Pawnee, Illinois, passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023, at her home in Pawnee. She was born May 9, 1948, in Chicago, the daughter of Jose Diaz and Dorothy Cabanatuan. Joyce married Bobby A. Wood on July 2, 1980, in Las Vegas. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Daniel Diaz.

Joyce was of the Christian faith and worked as a photographer for Olan Mills Inc. for several years, coordinating church directories. She graduated from Baguio High School in the Philippines. Joyce also managed an optical store, was an avid entrepreneur and had been a model in her youth, as well as a beautician. She loved her dog, Jazmine, and her other pets who preceded her in death.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Bobby; two brothers, Joseph R. Diaz of Tacoma, Washington, and David R. (wife, Debbie) Diaz of Herrin, Illinois; five nieces and nephews, Danny Diaz, Stacey Diaz, Dave Diaz, Jacob Diaz and Matthew Diaz; and six great-nieces and great-nephews, Sierra Corzine, Olivia Diaz, Sydney Corzine, Gavin Diaz, Tristan Works and Liam Works; and several cousins.

Joyce's family will meet friends from noon until the time of a celebration of life service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee, with Rev. Carol Creech officiating. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
