Obituary

Auburn — Judith "Judy" Marie Foster, 79, of Auburn, Illinois, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 19, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Judy was born Nov. 4, 1946, in Springfield, the daughter of Merle and Clara Schroeder. She married Charles W. Foster on Aug. 22, 1964, at Virden Methodist Church in Virden. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Larry Schroeder.

Judy attended Virden High School and later completed cosmetology school, becoming a hairstylist at just 16 years old — a profession she embraced throughout her life. She was a farm wife for many years and worked as a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Foster Trucking. She also worked at United Community Bank in Auburn for several years.

Judy will be remembered for her steady kindness, her generosity and the deep love she carried for her family and community. She touched countless lives through her decades as a hairstylist and through her work in local businesses, always offering a warm smile, a listening ear or a helping hand. Above all else, she cherished the moments spent with her family — celebrating milestones, sharing stories and watching each new generation grow. Her gentle spirit, her loyalty and the care she showed to everyone around her will remain a lasting legacy in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Judy is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles "Chuck" Foster, of Auburn; one son, Clayton Foster, of Auburn; two daughters, Stacey Harrison of Thayer and Monica Foster of Virden; eight grandchildren, Gracia (companion, Luke Gallagher) Harrison, Camerson Harrison, Nolan Harrison, Kinley (fiancé, Layne Steen) Whalen, Augustine (fiancé, Anna Cook) Harrison, Keaton (wife, Kayla) Whalen, Claire Harrison and Ruthie Harrison; one great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Harrison, and one great-grandson on the way, Hayes Whalen; her favorite grand-puppy, Aspen; one sister, Carol Davidson, of Girard; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and no services are planned.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839.
