Obituary

GRAPEVINE, TEXAS – Juliet Marie "Judy" or "Dee "Hill, 80, of Grapevine, Texas, formerly of Pawnee, Illinois, lost her valiant fight against acute myeloid leukemia Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, in Dallas, Texas. She met her savior while surrounded by family and friends. Judy was born July 15, 1938, in Springfield, the daughter of Everett W. and Julia M. Miller Underwood. She married Roger H. Hill on Oct. 6, 1956 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Alfred E. "Doc" and Everett "J.R." Underwood. Judy attended Pawnee schools, and enjoyed cheerleading, choir, dancing and going to the local drugstore after school or games. She worked at Panhandle Gas and in Bradley University's admissions department. For the next 36 years, she supported her husband Roger's career as a U.S. Air Force officer and an American Airlines pilot while raising three children. During their retirement, Judy and Roger took many great cruises and trips to various states and countries. She volunteered at Our Redeemer, helping with Vacation Bible School, choir, Tuesday Bible study, English as a second language, bereavement meals, altar guild, sandwich ministry, mission trips and the lunch bunch. She doted on her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She loved to shop for each one of them, and she loved celebrating holidays, especially Christmas and Easter. She loved and was deeply loved in return. Most of all, she loved the Lord as he loved her, joining him in heaven. Judy is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Roger, of Grapevine, Texas; one daughter, Melanie (husband, Randy) Johnson Miller, of Hurst, Texas; two sons, Mark (wife, Tammy) Hill, of Ovilla, Texas, and Michael (wife, Lisa) Hill, of Irving, Texas; 11 grandchildren, Julio (wife, Katy) Polanco, Josh (wife, Carmen) Miller, Jordan Miller, Ashley (husband, Aaron) Metts, Matthew Miller, Andrew Hill, Austin (wife, Melanie) Hill, Kelsey Johnson, Shelby Johnson, Bethany Johnson and Christian Hill; three great-grandchildren, Lilly Polanco, Asher Miller and Luke Miller; one brother, Norman "Sap" (Marilyn) Underwood, of Pawnee; and many nieces, nephews and cousins who grieve her loss.
