PAWNEE — Kenneth Roy Grooms, 51, of Pawnee and Springfield, Illinois, died Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Kenny was born June 12, 1969, in Springfield, the son of Ronald L. and Evelyn M. Pendland Grooms. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Bobbi Jo Thomas; and a brother, Terry Justice. Kenny worked as a cook and most recently was employed at Island Bay Yacht Club. He enjoyed go-cart racing at the Raceway Kart Track in New Berlin and Ealeyville Speedway in Mechanicsburg. Kenny also enjoyed the time he spent cooking fish on Friday nights with his dad in Pawnee. He is survived by his sister, Annette J. (husband, Jeff) Johnson, of Naples, Florida; three nieces, Amber Frazzano, Jami Justice and Amanda Farmer; his uncle, Richard L. (wife, Sue) Grooms, of Pawnee; and several cousins.
