Kevin David Spengler, 47, of Mapleton, Ill., formerly of Pawnee, Ill., passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Kevin was born Jan. 14, 1968, in Springfield, Ill., the son of Carl E. and Marilyn Diane Childs Spengler. He married Sandra C. Mora-Werge on July 17, 1993, in Chihuahua, Mexico. Kevin attended Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria, Ill. His volunteer activities included Boys' Brigade, First Robotics and the Lake Camelot Swim Team. He was an Eagle Scout with Troop 73 in Pawnee. Kevin graduated as Salutatorian from Pawnee High School in 1986. He had served as a science teacher and participated in construction projects with the New Tribes Mission in Mexico. He earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology (formerly the University of Missouri-Rolla) in 1991 and was a senior test engineer at Caterpillar in Peoria for the past 10 years. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; daughter, Abigail C. Spengler; son, David J. Spengler; and daughter, Ana C. Spengler, all at home; his parents, Carl and Diane Spengler, of Pawnee; two brothers, Michael R. (wife, Tina) Spengler, of Stonington, Ill., and Philip C. (wife, Jennifer) Spengler, of Washington, Ill., and a sister, Jane E. (husband, Thom) Whalen, of Chatham, Ill.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Kevin's family will meet friends from 2 p.m. until the time of the memorial service at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. A second memorial service will be on Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Pawnee Christian Church with Kevin's family meeting friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. Rev.
