Pawnee — Lorna M. Purvis, 78, of Pawnee, Illinois, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Arcadia Care Jacksonville in Jacksonville. She was born Jan. 26, 1946, in Springfield, the daughter of Harold R. and Myrtie C. (Squires) Spears. Lorna married Robert W. Purvis at Calvary Church in Springfield on July 17, 1992. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Nelson; and a brother, Gerald, in 1992.

Lorna graduated from Pawnee High School in 1964. She was a founding member of Calvary Church in Springfield and served for many years as a greeter. She was a secretary at Calvary Academy for 15 years and worked for Robert Weiner Attorney at Law and Sorling Northrup Attorneys in Springfield as a legal secretary assistant for 50 years, retiring in 2014. She also was a member of the former Illinois Legal Secretarial Association for more than six years.

Lorna is survived by her husband, Robert W. Purvis, of Pawnee; one son, Nelson (wife, Angela) Neuber, of Pawnee; three grandchildren, Nicholas, Kyle and Ryan Neuber; one sister, Alice R. (husband, Tony) Morhet, of Springfield; one niece; and one nephew.

Lorna's family will meet friends from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024, at Pawnee Assembly of God Church at 1001 Eighth St. in Pawnee, with A.B. Bennett, Carol Creech and Paul Rose officiating. Private burial services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to provide a luncheon for all staff at Arcadia Care Jacksonville and Moments Hospice.
