Obituary

Margaret Janice Montgomery, 86, of Pawnee, Ill., died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Margaret was born Aug. 27, 1928, in Knierim, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Alice G. Fowler Quade. She married Jack N. Montgomery on Sept. 17, 1950, in Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack, in 1999; a daughter, Janine Ann Montgomery; and a brother, Earl Quade. Margaret was a 1945 graduate of Havelock High School in Havelock, Iowa. She also worked as the assistant county clerk at the Pocahontas County Court House in Iowa. She became a stay-at-home mom and later served as a cook for Pawnee schools. She was an active member of the Pawnee United Methodist Church, assisting with the church's outreach efforts with the Daily Bread and the Pawnee Food Pantry. Margaret is survived by one daughter, Gwen (companion, Max) Montgomery, of Springfield, Ill.; two sons, James (wife, Kim) Montgomery, of Newport Beach, Calif., and Michael (wife, Darcy) Montgomery, of Morrisonville, Ill.; three grandchildren; Nathan, Noel and Zachary; four great-grandchildren; Jax, Reece, Owen and Kade; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Margaret's family will meet friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, at the Pawnee United Methodist Church. An additional visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m., Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at the Pawnee United Methodist Church. The Rev. Chuck Kurfman will officiate. Burial will be at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee. Memorials honoring Margaret may be made to the Pawnee United Methodist Church or the Pawnee Food Pantry. Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee is serving the family of Margaret Montgomery. Service: Monday Aug. 31, 2015 11 a.m. Pawnee United Methodist Church Pawnee, Ill.
