Obituary

Pawnee — Mary Lou Knostman, 86, of Pawnee, Illinois, entered eternal rest Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, at her residence. Mary Lou was born Feb. 3, 1932, in Pawnee, the oldest daughter of Roy E. and Esther McTaggart Dozier. Mary Lou married George H. Knostman Feb. 25, 1977, in Pawnee. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother-in-law, James E. Dickey. Mary Lou was a member of the Hillsboro Presbyterian Church and also attended the Pawnee United Methodist Church. Mary Lou graduated from Pawnee High School with the class of 1950, and she was a graduate of Brown's Business College. She worked at and retired from the Bank of Pawnee after more than 25 years of service. She was a member of the Pawnee Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #436 for more than 60 years, serving as a Past Worthy Matron and a Past Grand Lecturer. She also was a member of the Hillsboro Daughters of the American Revolution and the Red Hat Society. Mary Lou is survived by her sister, Lois A. Dickey, of Pawnee; two nephews, Thomas E. (wife, Lisa) Dickey of Collinsville and Ralph E. (wife, Debbie) Dickey of St. Louis; two nieces, Teresa A. (husband, Bill) Dickey-Rogers and Lisa I. (husband, Mark) Klein both of Pawnee; two great-nephews, Thomas T. (companion, Don Wood) Dickey of Stillwater, Oklahoma, and Christopher J. Dickey of Pullman, Washington; two great-nieces, Melissa (husband, Devon) Nance of Pawnee and Abbigail Dickey of Collinsville; two stepchildren, Pam (husband, Ken) Haisty and George (wife, Donna) Knostman of Winston Salem, North Carolina; four step-grandchildren, Holly (husband, Scott) Oberman of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, Chris (wife, Susan) Haisty of Raleigh, North Carolina, Geoff (wife, Christine) Haisty of Cary, North Carolina, and Margaret Ann Knostman of Winston Salem, North Carolina; and four step-great-grandchildren, Conner, Carter, Stella and Allie. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. An Eastern Star funeral service will be held at 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. The Rev. Matt Ferguson and Rev. Chuck Kurfman will officiate. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee. In lieu of flowers, contributions honoring Mary Lou may be made to the Pawnee Food Pantry, P.O. Box 304, Pawnee, IL 62558. Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee is serving the family of Mary Lou Knostman.
