Michael L. Bushnell, 56, of Buffalo, Ill., passed away Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill. Mike was born Dec. 4, 1957, in Springfield, the son of Benjamin L. and Agnes M. Marr Bushnell. He married Becky VanDerVoort in March 1975. He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes, in 2012; his daughter, Michelle Fields, in 2012; and an infant son, Robert D. Bushnell. Mike attended Sherman and Williamsville schools. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps. in 1974. He was a member of the Buffalo Christian Church, Interveterans Burial Detail of Sangamon County, American Legion Post 32, Postal Union and Marine Corp. League. Mike worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a custodian for 35 years. Mike is survived by his wife, Becky, of Buffalo; his father, Ben Bushnell, of Sherman, Ill.; two grandchildren, Myah and Jayda Fields; one brother, Gregory A. (wife, Kathy) Bushnell, of Sherman; and one nephew, Joshua Bushnell. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. A memorial service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the Buffalo Christian Church with the Rev. Nick Sutton and Rev. Dennis Norton officiating.
