Michael Alan Howard, 66, of Pawnee, Illinois, died Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at his home in Pawnee. Mike was born July 3, 1951, in Taylorville, the son of John F. and Anna M. Switzer Howard. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lorraine Reynolds; and a stepdaughter, Lori A. Kirk.
Mike graduated from Pawnee High School in 1970. He was a supervisor of the Village of Pawnee's water and gas department, retiring in 2008 after 31 years of service. Mike loved farming, gardening and his dogs.
Mike is survived by three sons, Scott A. (wife, Christina) Howard of Pawnee, Christopher L. (wife, Eleanore) Howard and Michael J. Howard, both of Springfield; one daughter, Kari A. (husband, Benjamin Gonzales) Howard, of Webster, Texas; eight grandchildren; four brothers, Joe (wife, Charlene) Howard, Jim E. Howard and Nick (wife, Darlette) Howard, all of Pawnee, and Rick Howard of Springfield; two sisters, Mary Catherine (husband, Robert) Lynch of Kincaid and Janet A. (husband, Dean) Weber of Pawnee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until a memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee with Rev. Aaron Griffith officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Pawnee at a later date.
