VALDOSTA, GA. — Michael Dean Murphy-Nettles, 62, of Valdosta, Georgia, formerly of Illinois, passed away Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. He was born Jan. 14, 1959, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, the son of Joe D. and JoAnne McCoy Murphy. Michael married Charles Nettles on May 23, 2015, in Jasper, Florida. Michael graduated from Mattoon High School in Mattoon, Illinois, and attended Eastern Illinois University. He received an associate degree in arts. He previously worked as a receptionist at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Michael is survived by his husband, Charles, of Valdosta; his father, Joe Murphy, of Nokomis, Illinois; and one stepbrother. No services are planned at this time. Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee, Illinois, is serving the family of Michael Murphy-Nettles.
