Pawnee — Nancy Virginia Anderson, 97, of Springfield, Illinois, formerly of Pawnee, died Nov. 19, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Nancy was born May 27, 1920, in Des Arc, Missouri, the daughter of Thomas A. and Effie E. Wallis Buxton. She married Thomas I. Anderson on Dec. 6, 1948, in Bismark, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Tom, in 1970; one sister, Esther V. Owen; and one brother, Thomas R. Buxton.
After marrying in 1948, Nancy was a homemaker and focused on raising her children. She sewed, crocheted and was a voracious reader. She loved music and later became interested in genealogy. Nancy will be remembered for her kind spirit, love of family and her unwavering faith.
Nancy is survived by one son, Robert I. (wife, Jo Lynn) Anderson, of Springfield; two daughters, Barbara E. Florini of Bloomington, Indiana, and Carole (husband, Ron) Sholes of Springfield; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, 2941 S. Koke Mill Road, Springfield, IL 62711. For the comfort of those attending, the family requests that guests come fragrance free. Private burial will be in Arcadia Valley Memorial Park in Ironton, Missouri.
