Norma G. Green, 85, of Pawnee, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at the Villa Health Care Center in Sherman, Ill. Norma was born May 31, 1931, in Chesterfield, Ill., the daughter of Paul E. and Laura T. Wilson Edwards. She married Darrell L. Green on Dec. 13, 1952, at her parents' home in Pawnee. Norma was a resident of Pawnee since 1948. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darrell, in 1994; and her sister Jeri Allen.
Norma was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Divernon, Ill. She worked at SS Kresge as a waitress in Springfield for eight years and in the chemical lab at Sangamo Electric in Springfield for 11 years.
Norma was a great mom – she enjoyed being a mom and a grandma. She was a fabulous cook. Norma enjoyed church activities, going out to eat and shopping with friends and making all feel welcome at her home. She was also a great friend to others.
Norma is survived by her daughter, Patty A. (husband, Randy) Williams, of Pawnee; her son, Larry L. Green, of Urbana, Ill.; two grandchildren, Mitchell (wife, Katelyn) Williams of Robinson, Ill., and Melissa S. Williams of Pawnee; a brother, Paul Edwards Jr., of Jacksonville, Ill.; her sister, Cellie M. Howard of Rochester; one brother-in-law, Bill Allen, of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Norma's family will meet friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at the Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at the funeral home with Pastors Dan Edwards, Bill Edwards and Tom Shirley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Buckhart.
Memorials honoring Norma may be made to Auburn Area Special Olympics.
