Pawnee — Patricia "Pat" Sue Nichols, 75, of Pawnee, Illinois, died Thursday, Oct.11, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born May 14, 1943, in Pawnee, the daughter of Russell D. and Violet M. Trader Plummer. She married Raymond E. Nichols Oct. 28, 1961, at the Pawnee Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Mary Lou; and three brothers, Tom, Ralph and Sam.
Pat was member of the Sugar Creek United Methodist Church and graduated from Pawnee High School in 1961. She worked for the Illinois Department of Health and Human Services, retiring in 2002 after 15 years of service. She also had worked as a secretary for the Pawnee United Methodist Church and for both banks in Pawnee. Pat loved to travel, including her trips to Alaska and Hawaii.
Pat is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ray, of Pawnee; two sons, Brian L. Nichols of Tovey and Jeff L. (wife, Kim) Nichols, of Pawnee; six grandchildren, Anthony, Samantha, Justis, Savannah, Kameron and Jory; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Judy A. Plummer, of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018, at the funeral home with Rev. Paul Dinges officiating. Burial will be held at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
