Patrick Allen Malone Sr., 76, of Springfield, Ill., formerly of Pawnee, Ill., passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Pat was born April 2, 1937, in Springfield, Ill., the son of Clarence M. and Ruth E. Brest Malone. He married Gloria M. Lutz on Feb. 14, 2004, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Patrick A. Malone Jr. and Mark S. Malone and one sister, Marilyn Wanless. Pat was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Auburn. He attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Feitshans High School. Pat was the first, third-generation employee to work at Fiat-Allis, starting in 1955 at the age of 18 working as a maintenance mechanic there for 28 years. He later worked as a maintenance mechanic at St. John's Hospital, retiring in 1999. Pat was a member of the Canasta Club and the Civil Service Patrol. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, listening to country western music, dancing and spending time with his family. Pat was a great conversationalist. Pat is survived by his wife, Gloria, of Springfield; three sons, Darrin E. Malone and Brett A. (wife, Cindy) Malone, of Springfield, and Douglas P. Malone of Taylorville, Ill.; one daughter, Cindy Lou (husband, Rick) Nelson, of Springfield; three stepchildren, Dawn (husband, Mark) Stiegman of Thawville, Ill., Todd (wife, Susan) Lutz of Sherman, Ill., and Eric (wife, Libby) Lutz of Bloomington, Ill.; 28 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mabel Martin of Sherman, Barbara Rodgers of Springfield and Judy Ahrens of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Pat's family will meet friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at the Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1201 W. Jackson St. in Auburn with the Rev. Martin Kaufmann officiating. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee. Memorial contributions honoring Pat may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1201 W.
