Pauline (Gregurich) Irwin, 97, of Auburn, Ill., formerly of Pawnee and Divernon, Ill., passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at the Auburn Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Auburn. She was born Sept. 18, 1916, in Auburn, Ill., the daughter of Paul and Anna Cop Gregurich. She married John Joseph Irwin March 19, 1938, in Springfield, and he preceded her in death in 1990. She also was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Irwin; five brothers, Andrew, Paul, John, George and Daniel; and sisters, Mary Dunlap, Della Gregory, Irene Lindsey and Virginia Schober. Pauline was a member of the Zenobia Baptist Church in Zenobia, Ill. She and her husband farmed in the area for many years. She also worked at JCPenney and Judy's Hallmark stores in Springfield. Pauline enjoyed working in her flower garden and spending time with her loving family, and she was known for her wonderful pies. She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn (husband, William D.) Murphy, of Harvel; a daughter-in-law, Sue Irwin, of Pawnee; three granddaughters, Dana, Lisa and Kristina Murphy, all of Springfield; two grandsons, Jamie (wife, Sarah) Maley and John (wife, Debbie) Irwin, of Pawnee; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Hadleigh Maley, of Pawnee; two sisters, Georgia Herberger and Barbara Castleman, both of Pawnee; two sister-in-laws, Ruth Gregurich, of Girard, Ill., and Louise Gregurich, of Springfield; and several wonderful nieces and nephews. Pauline's family will meet friends Tuesday, Oct. 15, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Dennis Norton officiating. Burial will be at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
