Springfield — Robert Michael Hall Sr., 75, of Springfield, Illinois, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2023, at his home in Springfield surrounded by his family. Robert was born Sept. 26, 1948, in Springfield, the son of Robert R. and Florence L. Fuller Hall. He met his best friend, Donna M. Goldesberry, in junior high, and they later married Sept. 30, 1967, at the Church of the Little Flower. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Donna, in 2022.

Robert graduated from Feitshans High School in Springfield in 1967 and was part of the last graduating class. He retired in 2016 from a varied career in construction and as manager of a restaurant chain. He was a history and Civil War buff and was able to tour several Civil War sites recently, which was a lifelong dream come true for him. He also was a talented carpenter and woodworker.

He is survived by one son, Mike (Cindy) Hall, of Petersburg; one daughter, Leslie (Mike) Thornton, of Springfield; two granddaughters, Kacee Hall and Allie Reeves; two sisters, Carol Isaacs of Springfield and Donna Meyers of San Diego; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2023, at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield, with Rev. Al Kemme officiating.
