Obituary

Pawnee — Robert Fount "R.F." Patton, 85, of Pawnee, Illinois, died Sunday, April 8, 2018, at Lewis Memorial Christian Center in Springfield. He was born Feb. 13, 1933, in Albany, Kentucky, the son of Billie L. and Anna T. Smith Patton. He married Mary M. Baker on Feb. 18, 1951, in Auburn. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary, in 2008; two brothers David and Charlie Patton; a sister Naomi Fugate; five half-brothers; and three half-sisters. Bob was a general contractor for more than 46 years, building over 250 homes during his career. He retired in 2009. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of iWorship Center. Bob read the Bible over 12 times and authored two books: "God's Salvation for Men" and "God's Word vs. Man's Word." He is survived by one son, Robert "Bob" (wife, Elmi) Patton, of Pawnee; one daughter, Joan (husband, Kevin) Whaley, of Pawnee; four grandchildren; three great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; a sister Eva (husband, Bill) Curtis of Thayre; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob's family will meet friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at the Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. Rev. A.B. Bennett will officiate. Burial will be in Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials honoring Bob's memory be made to the American Heart Association, 2141 W. White Oaks Drive, Suite A, Springfield, IL 62704. Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee is serving the family of Bob Patton.
