Pawnee — Rodger Eugene Acree, 81, of Pawnee, Illinois, passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, at his home. He was born Nov. 6, 1942, in Greensburg, Kentucky, the son of Junist A. and Thelma I. Moss Acree. He married Catherine Sicilia Campbell on May 30, 1963, at the Church of the Little Flower in Springfield. Rodger was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol, in 2007; his daughter, April, in 2015; and five brothers, Tony, Larry, Dennis, Kenny and Jerry Acree.

Rodger lived in Pawnee since 1954 and graduated from Pawnee High School in 1960. He was a member of Pawnee Christian Church. He was a self-employed carpenter from 1963 to 2005 and a member of the Carpenters Local 16. Rodger loved to race at Drag City, antiques and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He is survived by one son, Rodger E. "Gene" (wife, Candee) Acree, of New Berlin; six grandchildren, Joel, Jason, Aaron, Amber, Alan and Alex; one sister-in-law, Cathy Acree, of Pawnee; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rodger's family will meet friends from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at Pawnee Christian Church, with Pastor David Swihart officiating. Burial will follow at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
