Obituary

Springfield — Rodney Dale Tucker, 71, of Florence, Illinois, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026, at his son's home in Springfield. Rodney was born July 14, 1954, in Buffalo, Illinois, the son of George R. and Mildred M. Beadle Tucker. He married Christine "Chris" Hill on March 5, 1991, in Springfield. Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Chris, in 2021; his daughter, Jennifer, in 1993; and two brothers, Mike A. Tucker in 2002 and Alvin E. Tucker in 2010.

Rodney graduated from Tri-City High School in 1973. He loved to go hunting, fishing and camping. Rodney served Scouting America's Pack 74 in Morrisonville as a committee member from 2002 to 2011 and as chairman from 2010 to 2011. He then served as the scoutmaster of Troop 74, chartered by the Morrisonville American Legion Post 721, and as the committee chair for Scouting America Crew 7468, sponsored by the Morrisonville-Palmer Fire District from 2008 to 2011. Rodney also served as a merit badge counselor at Camp Bunn in Hettick for several years.

He is survived by his son, Jacob D. (fiancée, Tamika Collins) Tucker, of Springfield; one brother, Perry W. Tucker, of Springfield; several nieces; one nephew; and several cousins.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Rodney's family will meet friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee.
