Pawnee — On Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019, Ronald Keith Scott, loving husband and father of four, passed away at 90 years of age. Ron was born Aug. 23, 1929, in Pawnee, Illinois, to Clarence and Edith (Landrey) Scott. After graduating from Pawnee High School in 1948, he started his career as a builder and craftsman. Ron loved working with his hands and had a lifelong passion for helping people.
Ron took time to serve our country in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Weaver Air Force Base in Rapid City, South Dakota. Ron attained the rank of sergeant in the 28th Medical Group and was honorably discharged in December 1949.
While in South Dakota, he met and married his first wife, Bonnie Jean Forde, and they had one child, Robert (Bob). After Ron's military service, he returned to Pawnee, where he met and married Evelyn Jean Castle. Together, they raised three children: Debbie, Tom and Bruce.
Ron was preceded in death by his father, Clarence; his mother, Edith; sisters Cleo and Audrey; brothers Harold and Gene; granddaughter Brooke Scott; and great-grandsons Brandon King and Travis Thiel.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn; children, Bob (Teresa Porterfield) Somervold, Debbie (John) Gleason, Tom (Colleen) Scott and Bruce Scott; his granddaughter and caregiver Shannon King; loving sisters-in-law Betty Clay and Sherry Ward; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Ron was cremated after a private family service at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A celebration of life will be held at a later date per his request. Burial will be at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
