Kincaid — Stephen "Steve" G. Busby, 75, of Kincaid, Illinois, formerly of Pawnee, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026, at HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Steve was born Nov. 30, 1950, in Pana, the son of Byron G. and Mildred L. Hoehn Busby. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Shawn Busby; a stepdaughter, Jennifer Craddock-Murphy; a sister, Susan Busby Becker; and a brother, Byron "Louie" Busby.

Steve graduated from Pawnee High School in 1968 and retired as a material handler with GSI Inc. in Taylorville in 2015. Steve previously worked at Firestone-Bridgestone in Decatur and as a coal miner with Black Beauty Coal Co. in Illinois.

Steve is survived by a son, Von F. Busby, and a daughter, Stephanie R. Busby, both of Pawnee; two grandchildren, Kolton and Dawson Fry; a brother, Jim (wife, Rita) Busby, of Pawnee; a sister, Marge (husband, Brent) Adams, of Divernon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life service will be planned at a later date, and a private burial will be held at Horse Creek Cemetery in Pawnee.
