Obituary

Springfield - Warren Robert Goering, 73, of Springfield, Illinois, died Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center's Emergency Room in Springfield. Warren was born Jan.13, 1944, in Fort Jackson, South Carolina, the son of Carl and Mary Louise Happy Goering. He married Mary F. White Nov. 6, 1965, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Carl. Warren was a member of the St. Katharine Drexel Parish and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Warren is survived by his wife, Mary Sue, of Springfield; two daughters, Mary Therese Doran and Christina (husband, Philip) Hermanek, both of Springfield; three grandchildren, Abbigael Doran and Jonathan and Elizabeth Hermanek; one great-granddaughter, Ava Noelle; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery with Rev. James E. Isaacson, SJC, officiating. The Inter-Veteran Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors. A memorial Mass is being offered for Warren at 8:30 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 1, 2017, at St. Katharine Drexel Parish (St. Patrick's Church), 1720 S. Grand Ave. East, in Springfield. A gathering is planned after Mass in the church basement. Family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorials honoring Warren may be made to the St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 725 S. 12th St., Springfield, IL 62703.
