Springfield – Willard "Willie" Ray Gonterman, 79, of Springfield, formerly of Chatham, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2018, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Willard was born April 13, 1939, in Pawnee, the son of Charles B. Gonterman and Crystal Cowling Gonterman Kornack. He married Linda D. Price July 9, 1960, in Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Linda, in 2014.
Willard was a member of the Pawnee Assembly of God Church and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Willard retired from the Farm Supply Co. in 1999 after 39 years of service. Willard loved his grandchildren, his church and family get-togethers; playing his guitar; and listening to country and western music.
Willard is survived by his daughter, Dianna L. (husband, Kevin) Murdock, of Divernon; two sons, Todd (fiancée, Barbara Shea) Gonterman of Auburn and Robert D. (wife, Paula) Gonterman of Springfield; four grandchildren, Heather Gillespie and Katelyn, Jacob and Andrea Gonterman; one brother, Charles B. "Buck" Gonterman; two sisters, Genelle (husband, Don) Hayes and Beverly Cassiday; and several nieces and nephews.
Willard's family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee with Rev. A.B. Bennett officiating. Burial will be at Chatham Memorial Cemetery in Chatham.
